About the Historical Society

Our members are current and past residents of Juno Beach who have a special interest in local history.

The Town has archives of photos, documents, interviews, and objects dating as far as the 1890s. Our society's mission is to conserve this collection, grow it, and share this heritage.

We promote this history via Town Center exhibits, by creating historical plaques, giving live presentations, publishing the Discover Juno Beach Tour, and through this website. We also catalogue the Town's collection and make it accessible to the public via the Search tab on this site's Home page.

The Society originated in 2004 as the Historical Committee, led by Daniel Corbett, at the town's 50th Anniversary. It is now a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation.

In 2022, the Society was honored to  receive the Fannie James Pioneer Achievement Award from the Historical Society of Palm Beach County.

Join us in our mission to preserve and celebrate this heritage.

Two Historians and Today's History Team

Juno Beach has had two formidable historians.

Bessie DuBois, born in 1903, spent her adulthood living beside the Jupiter Inlet. In her 1978 book, she provided vivid accounts of life in Juno and of the development of Juno Beach through its Motel Era. DuBois Park by the Jupiter Inlet is named after her family and the 1898 DuBois Pioneer Home is a museum.

Daniel Corbett was an attorney, realtor, Town Councilor, and occasional newspaper columnist who developed a passion for local history. His 1992 book was a product of his master's degree thesis. A considerable portion of the town's historical archives are the fruit of his collecting efforts. Corbett's book can be purchased at the Town Center reception desk.

Our Society is following in their big footsteps.

Today's JBHS team of presenters and archivists:

Gary Agnello (incoming Treasurer), Emily Alves (Town Staff Representative), Roger Buckwalter (Secretary), Patti Casey, Red Dunn, Steen Eriksson (Vice-President), Kathy Fahy, Jim Ferguson (Curator and Board Chair), Laura Ferguson, Matt Pazanski (President), Mark Saloio, Peggy Wheeler (Mayor of Juno Beach and Town Council Representative)
