You can access our hundreds of cataloged records in the Town's historical collection. Each has a written description and many also have scanned images.
When we catalog, we make the record easier to find by tagging it with relevant search terms and the names of any people associated with it.
People includes: historic figures, anyone who has donated to the collection, and the names of artists, authors and photographers.
Archives contains copies of articles, maps, letters, brochures, and other documents.
Photos is obvious, but note that picture postcards are in the Objects catalog. There you'll find lots of images of motels and aerial views of the town.
Objects records physical items such as a motel key fob, a spike from the Celestial Railroad, and our postcard collection.
--You can search with a single word, such as the name of a building, business, event, item, or person.
--When entering a name having more than one word, type it in quotes like “Town Hall Park”. Otherwise, it will show every entry that uses any one of those words.
--You can search unlinked words by inserting AND between them, such as “Town Council” and election.
--An asterisk* can be a helpful wildcard. E.g., if you enter condo* you will get every record containing condo, condominium, and condominiums.
